Biometric Time Clocks

In the fast-paced business environment where competition is stiff, companies need to protect themselves from espionage and piracy. Security begins with limiting access to company grounds and offices. Even employees can be granted only limited access to highly confidential documents and restricted areas. The latest models of biometric time clocks feature that capability, aside from just keeping time.

The biometric time clock is the electronic version of a timecard punching machine to monitor attendance. It has also greatly improved on the authenticity of time records by using human body part imprints as identification marks for employees, making it impossible for employees to cheat as they can with timecards or swiping machines.

Models of biometric time clocks range from retina, palm, and finger scanners. The technology works by matching the image scanned, for example the fingerprint, with the data stored in its memory. If the two images match, it allows and records the times of entry and exit. Fingerprints and retinas are impossible to forge. An employee cannot punch in for another or use anothers access rights.

As the device is also programmable, it can keep track of attendance very well for companies that practice flexible time schedules. It can be made to calculate overtime and holiday hours worked per employee. This is definitely good news for those in the payroll unit. They wouldnt have to spend hours computing compensation every time payday nears. Whats more important is that it eliminates human error it lessens the chances of having employee grievance reports or tedious readjusting of wage and leave computations. The device keeps its own records that can be downloaded directly into a payroll system. Attendance reports can easily be printed. Monitoring of employee movement within the offices can be facilitated. This makes biometric time clocks the right device for todays business centers.
